Japan University of Economics Dorm Used for Telephone Fraud

A student from Japan University of Economics and an unemployed 19-year-old were arrested for their roles in a telephone scam in Fukuoka Prefecture. They, along with two other suspects, including another student, are believed to have operated multiple phone scams from a university student dormitory in Chikushino City. The group is accused of defrauding an elderly woman in her 80s in Minami Ward, Fukuoka City, of her cash card, and withdrawing about 400,000 yen from her account. Both arrested individuals have admitted to their involvement in the scam. The police are investigating the extent of their activities and the relationships among the group members.
