Japan’s Biggest Used Bookstore “Tsutaya Book Garage” Opens in Fukuoka

Opened on Jul. 22 by Tsutaya in Fukuoka, Tsutaya Book Garage is Japan’s largest used bookstore! The bookstore sells a whooping total of approximately 550,000 books, of which 430,000 are used books and 120,000 are new. With a spacious interior– recreating the look of a West Coast garage in the US – and two hundred seats, customers are free to read both new and used books at the store. Customers can also buy and rent CDs and DVDs, as well as browse through the stationery and various miscellaneous goods. There will also be three restaurants and cafes in and by the bookstore, including the pizzeria and cafe, Napoli’s (11:00~23:00), offering a pizza margherita (¥350) to eat in, take out, or deliver, as well as Full Full (9:00~19:00), a bakery using domestic wheat, and Honey Coffee (9:00~23:00), a specialty coffee shop.
