JR Kyushu Battle Tornadoes

JR Kyushu will create a section to improve safety from tornadoes. Recently, one of the company’s cargo containers was hit by a tornado-like wind during typhoon No.17 and caused a power cut at Nobeoka Station in Miyazaki Prefecture. The company aims to develop a system to predict occurrences of such events to improve the safety and secure smooth operation of its trains. The project will proceed in collaboration with Railway Technical Research Institute in Tokyo. Source: The Sankei News, 9/27/2019
