JR Kyushu reported more damage on its railways caused by recent torrential rains. A total of 730 incidents of damage were found around Kyushu as of July 21, involving 17 routes, including the Kyudai Line. The Hisatsu Line suffers the most severe damage, with 450 incidents found along a 79-kilometer section between Yatsushiro (Kumamoto Prefecture) and Masaki (Miyazaki Prefecture.) The company aims to resume train operations on some closed sections for Kyudai Line and Kagoshima Line by the end of July or August, while replacement buses would be introduced in other areas.
