JR Kyushu Rail Passes Temporarily Available Resident Foreign Nationals

Following the lead of JR East, JR Kyushu launched two discounted rail passes for foreign passport holders living in Japan. These rail passes (including shinkansen bullet trains) and similar discounts are limited to overseas tourists. But due to the pandemic and virtual halt of inbound tourism, rail companies have changed policies to allow foreign nations enjoy the benefit of these passes. Two JR Kyushu Discover Rail passes are available. The All Kyushu Area Pass retails for  ¥29,920 – but this three-day pass is just ¥12,000 under this promotion. The Northern Kyushu Area Pass can be had for  ¥6,500 and is also good for three days of travel in Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto and Oita prefectures. Passes are available online via the JR Kyushu Rail Pass website, and can be used until June 30 2021. Source: JR Kyushu (English)
