JR Kyushu released its mid-term business plan that calls for the company to be listed on the stock exchange by FY 2016. If they are listed, they would be the first of the three JR “island” companies (Hokkaido, Shikoku, Kyushu), which receive financial subsidies from the government due to such negative factors as the population base, to be listed. The listing would also be a result of the company’s efforts to strengthen its financial basis through diversification.
