JR Kyushu has announced that it will suspend 12 express trains from this month to next month due to the spread of the new coronavirus among drivers and other crew members, making it difficult to secure the crew needed to operate the trains. Currently, 38 drivers and conductors are on standby at home or otherwise unable to perform their duties. The suspension will last from the 27th to the 5th of next month. The total number of cancellations is 120, including 100 runs of the limited express “Sonic” between Hakata and Oita and 20 runs of the “Kamome” between Hakata and Nagasaki. JR Kyushu will provide refunds, free of charge, to those who canceled their trips due to the cancellations. Source: JR Kyushu / NHK
