Kagoshima Reaches 100 Female Lawmakers

Kagoshima Prefecture now has 100 female local assembly members, representing 14% of all seats, following April elections. The milestone was announced by the advocacy group “Association to Increase Women Legislators in Kagoshima,” which has promoted female candidacy since 1996. However, disparities remain: six municipalities have no female legislators, and over ten have just one. The group’s leader emphasized the need to eliminate “zero-woman” assemblies and noted improved societal support for women running for office. Source: MBC
