Kitakyushu Certifies Japan’s First Senior Housing Support Unit

Kitakyushu City has become the first in Japan to certify a “Housing Support Residence,” a new national program to help elderly residents secure homes. The certified apartment, operated by local NPO Hoboku, includes safety monitoring via electricity data and weekly caretaker visits. Rent is set at ¥29,000 per month.
