Kitakyushu City Moves One Step Closer to Accommodation Tax

A group of experts approved the introduction of an accommodation tax by Kitakyushu City at a meeting on July 11. Results of a survey answered by 69 persons working for local hotels and tourism business were recorded, and almost half of the respondents agreed on the city’s levying accommodation tax. While Fukuoka Prefecture initially planned the introduction of the tax, Kitakyushu City has expressed its intention to levy a tax on its own after the prefecture and Fukuoka City reached an agreement on double taxation.
