Kitakyushu City topped a survey on the best areas to live in Japan. The results will be featured in the February 2018 edition of Inakagurashi no Hon (Book on Countryside Living), which is published by Takarajimasha, Inc. Questionnaires were conducted in 671 cities, towns, and villages. The desired locations were divided into big cities (a population of more than 100,000) and small cities (a population of less than 100,000). The results were split into four categories: overall, young people, people raising children, and seniors. Kitakyushu came first in the overall and senior rankings.
