In October Kitakyushu City released a smartphone app showcasing the industrial nightscapes of its factories. The app introduces 32 nightscape locations, including the Yahata Steel Works and Mitsubishi Chemical, and the City plans to add information on nearby eateries in the future. Amid the growing popularity throughout Japan of industrial landscape night tours, Kitakyushu has been focusing its energy on industrial tourism. It hopes the new app will attract more visitors to the city.
