Kitakyushu City will host the 50th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships and the 38th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in October 2021. On November 8, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) announced this as the first double-sport event in the same city. Competitions of artistic gymnastics are scheduled between October 17 ~ 24 at Kitakyushu City General Gymnasium in Yahatahigashi Ward, while rhythmic gymnastics will occur between October 26 ~ 31 at West Japan General Exhibition Center in Kokurakita Ward.
