Kitakyushu to Raise Admission Fees and Introduce Dual Pricing

Kitakyushu City announced it will raise admission fees at four major tourist sites, including Kokura Castle, and introduce separate pricing for residents and non-residents starting April 2026. Kokura Castle’s adult fee will increase from ¥350 to ¥400 for residents and ¥500 for others, the first hike in 36 years. The city said higher fees are needed to maintain facilities amid rising costs. Fees at Kokura Castle Garden, Mojiko Retro Observatory, and the Kyushu Railway History Museum will also rise, with ID required for resident pricing. Bus fares in Wakamatsu Ward will increase by an average of 18.7 percent to strengthen finances following declining ridership and higher fuel costs. Source: Kitakyushu City / KBC
