The city of Kitakyushu announced it will spend 850.82 million yen to dispose of rubble from Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, which resulted from last year’s earthquake and tsunami. They presented a budget proposal to an extraordinary session of city council. Full-scale disposal will begin in August, and total as much as 25,800 tons of debris. They plan to accept another 65,300 tons of debris for disposal next fiscal year.
