The ceramic studios of Koishiwara-yaki and Takatori-yaki areas will stop onsite sales until May 6. An organization formed by local ceramic makers requested its members to temporarily close their shops and galleries to reduce the number of visitors to the area. The decision reflected the elevated anxiety over the spread of the new coronavirus amongst its elderly population. The regional tourism association asks people in other areas to refrain from visiting the village for the time being. The region had previously announced the cancellation of the Koishiwara Spring Ceramic Festival scheduled between May 3 ~ 5. Source: Toho 2020-04-26
