Kumamoto Governor Seeks to Attract Third TSMC Factory with Planned Taiwan Visit

Governor Takashi Kimura of Kumamoto Prefecture expressed his intention to visit TSMC’s headquarters in Taiwan this summer to encourage the semiconductor giant to establish its third factory in the prefecture. Already home to TSMC’s first and second factories in Japan, located in Kikuyo Town, the Governor aims to further consolidate the semiconductor industry within the region. The visit, slated between July and August, aligns with the prefectural assembly sessions planned for June and September. Governor Kimura, who has previously served as the main liaison with TSMC during his tenure as Deputy Governor, is keen on strengthening this industrial partnership. Source: Saga Shinbun
