Kumamoto Prefecture will present an honorary award to Eiichiro Oda, a manga artist best known for creating One Piece. The much-loved title has sold more than 430 million copies worldwide. Mr. Oda will be awarded the prize in recognition of his efforts to support reconstruction work in his home prefecture following the earthquakes that hit the region two years ago. A presentation ceremony will be held to present Mr. Oda with the prize on April 15 at the reception room inside the Kumamoto prefectural government office main building.
