The first spring-matsutake auction in Japan was held in Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture, and three mushrooms were sold for ¥1 million per kilogram. On Apr. 5, the earliest harvest of spring-matsutake mushrooms were sold to a local convenience store owner, Michihide Hama, at the local vegetable market. It is said that the locations of the spring-matsutake are kept secret even between parents and their children. Source: News 24 / TKU
