Kumamoto Tests Sale of Trash For Shopping Bag Use

Kumamoto City began a social trial selling the city’s trash bags as substitutes for plastic shopping bags. In collaboration with 28 local Lawson shops that previously sold 3-yen plastic bags to customers, the town gives customers options to purchase small (5 liters/ ¥4) or medium (15 liters/ ¥12) sized bags that can be used for the local trash collection. The city has been running a similar project at local supermarkets, too. Source: Kumamoto City / KKT
