Kurume-based printing company Maru-shin and sake brewery Wakatakeya took home the Best of the Best award in the combination printing category at the 31st World Label Competition in 2019. The award-winning label was designed for Wakatakeya’s eponymous junmai ginjo sake bottles. The label which commemorates the first year of the Reiwa era features a moon decorated with cherry blossoms and mountains. The moon is different on each label, and represents the fact that the moon can be seen from all over the world. Hironobu Hayashida, the president of Wakatakeya, visited Kurume City Hall to report on winning the award where he remarked, “With this stylish label, I intend to continue making sake that will be popular the world over.” Source: FIBA
