Kurume Nightclub Cluster Linked To Saga’s First Cluster – Playgrounds Closed in Fukuoka

On April 24, Fukuoka Prefecture announced 12 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections, bringing the cumulative total for the prefecture to 587. Yesterday’s cases included four more persons linked to the suspected cluster found at Mabini (a nightclub in Kurume City) on April 23. The four new cases include two female staff, one male customer, and the teenage-son of a staff member. It was also revealed that at least four persons continued to work at the club even after they developed symptoms. Furthermore, that same cluster is the suspected origin of Saga Prefecture’s first-ever cluster.

Meanwhile, in other news, Fukuoka Prefecture and Fukuoka City roped off recreational equipment at large parks in response to concerns that unsafe numbers of children will gather at such facilities during the Golden Week holidays. Ohori Park, Nishi Park, Higashi Park (managed by Fukuoka City,) Kasuga Park, Chuo Park in Kitakyushu City, and five more parks managed by the prefecture are affected.
