Kurume University and Kurume City partnered with Bridgestone Corporation and three other organizations to solve ‘sleep debt’ matters. The government-industry-academia collaboration project aims to develop a Kurume Model, where residents regularly take sleep checkups. Using sleep data gathered by a local startup with a special wristwatch-shaped device during the past three years, the group will find solutions to maintain good sleep and prevent illness, including depression.
