Kurume resident Yoshimi Kuma has donated 410 children’s books worth ¥1 million to Mizuma Library, adding to her ongoing efforts to promote reading among children. This brings her total donations to 1,500 books worth ¥3.2 million. Inspired by her late husband’s love for books, she began donating 14 years ago under the name “Kuma-san Library.” Kuma expressed her hope that children would read widely and grow into thoughtful, independent adults.
