Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. announced a collaboration with Exergy Power Systems, a startup company by engineers from Tokyo University, to develop power business in Ireland. The two companies will work on balancing supply and demand for electricity while using the rechargeable battery system developed by Exergy. The widespread use of wind energy in Ireland generates different amounts of electricity and thus a system to effectively store and release power is required. The project will start from around the end of the 2019 fiscal year. Kyuden has been seeking new and future-oriented business since launching “Kyuden i-Project” in 2017.
