Kyuden to Offer Aircon Discounts to the Elderly

Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Kyuden) is planning to offer a 10% discount on electricity charges for the elderly during August and September. The company hopes that the initiative will encourage older members of society to make greater use of electric fans and air conditioning as means of preventing heatstroke. People over the age of 75 who are on Kyuden’s Smart Family Plan will be eligible for the initiative. Residents looking to take advantage of the scheme can apply via phone. Kyuden customers using the conventional Juryo Dento B system can also receive discounts if they change plans over the phone. Source: Asahi Shimbun, 7/24/2018
