Kyushu Becomes Important Region of Bluefin Tuna Farming

Kyushu is becoming an important producer of farmed bluefin tuna or kuromaguro. Over sixty percent of the kind was produced in Kyushu prefectures during 2020. Nagasaki Prefecture produced the most significant portion at 82 farms. Kagoshima and Oita were also two of the top five prefectures of bluefin tuna production, with 36 and 11 farms, respectively.
