According to a survey conducted by Nishinippon Shimbun with 120 major companies in Kyushu, only 20% of respondents listed the percentage of female managers as “10% or more”, while more than 70% chose “less than 5%” or “0%”. The national government aims to increase the female manager rate to 30% by 2020, but efforts promote women are clearly lagging. In the survey, 8.4% of the respondents said they plan to “actively increase” female managers, while 64.2% said they would opt to “gradually increase” them. Issues mentioned regarding the promotion of women included transfers of their husbands and reforming systems to allow women to work at companies longer. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 11/12
