Kyushu Defense Bureau Reassures Safety Amid Osprey Concerns

Officials from the Kyushu Defense Bureau visited Yanagawa city to discuss the deployment of the Self-Defense Forces’ Osprey transport aircraft at Saga airport. The city, located about 4 kilometers from the airport, has raised safety concerns. Director Tetsuya Ito of the Kyushu Defense Bureau explained that the aircraft would not fly over the city unless in specific circumstances such as adverse weather. City council members questioned about possible accidents and the impact on the Ariake Sea, also raising the issue of compensation.
