Kyushu Electric Power announced that it had collected 4.9 million yen in excess charges from 23 companies from September 2008 to March 2012 for supplying electric power when the supply capacity of new power providers was insufficient. They attributed this to an error in modifying the program for calculating rates when the system was changed in 2008. The utility said it would refund the entire amount.
