The Fukuoka City-based Kyushu Electric Power Co. has begun to seriously consider raising their rates to reflect soaring oil prices. They expect to reach a formal decision sometime in July and implement the new rate schedule in the fall. Price rises might not take effect until January, however, depending on oil prices. It would be the first change in Kyushu Electric’s rates since April 2006.
