Kyushu Electric Power and Chikuho Bank Team Up to Digitize Premium Gift Certificates

Kyushu Electric Power and Chikuho Bank have begun to develop a system to digitize premium gift certificates issued by local governments and other organizations. The entire process, from applying for certificates and using them to pay for goods and services, will be handled via smartphone, thus enhancing convenience while reducing contact between people. Users will need to download a dedicated app to apply for certificates. After applications are awarded by lottery, users can pay for their certificates at convenience stores and a premium will be added onto the amount of the certificate. The system is slated to be adopted by Ukiha City this September. Source: Kyuden
