A government committee examining power supply and demand projections for this summer held their first meeting and released their outlook based on the assumption that none of the country’s nuclear power plants would be in operation. In the event of a very hot summer similar to that in 2010, the power shortfall in the Kyushu would be 3.6% for normal demand in August. It could also reach 4.6% in July, the month of peak demand.
