Kyushu Faces Power Shortage, Receives Aid from Kansai and Chugoku Regions

On August 21, Kyushu Electric Power announced it had received up to 350,000 kilowatts of electricity from Kansai and Chugoku regions due to an unexpected shortage. The shortage occurred after a steam leak at Reihoku Power Station in Kumamoto forced the plant to shut down, coinciding with high temperatures that increased demand. This marks the first time in nearly two years that Kyushu has required electricity transfers from other regions. Kyushu Electric is currently inspecting the damaged boiler and aims for a quick repair. Source: Kyushu Electric Power Transmission and Distribution
