Industrial production in Kyushu declined in 12 of 13 sectors in August. Output of electronic components and devices fell 3.7% due to a rebound from strong orders the previous month. Production of general, industrial, and business machinery—including semiconductor manufacturing equipment—dropped 5.3% as some shipments were postponed to the following month. Metal products decreased 9.9%, while steel and nonferrous metals fell 4.0%, partly due to heavy rains in August that damaged regional infrastructure and delayed factory restarts, despite limited direct damage to production sites. IC production in Kyushu totaled ¥101.879 billion, down 3.0% from July, marking the first decline in three months. Source: Kyushu METI
