The National Tax Agency released the results of its land tax assessments for 2008, which show that the average value of land in Kyushu has risen for the second straight year. This is attributed to brisk real estate trading in Fukuoka City last year. Some observers point out, however, that the impact of the sub-prime housing loan problems in the U.S. have yet to be felt, and that land values will trend downward in the future.
