Kyushu National Museum Buys Mask Collection


The Kyushu National Museum has purchased the collection of ceremonial masks from a private collector in Saito, Miyazaki Prefecture. There are 90 masks in the collection, with individual masks dating from a wide range that extends from the Kamakura period to the Edo period. The mask collection took about 30 years to complete. The museum plans to put them on permanent display next year.
