Kyushu SMEs Consider Joint Venture with Taiwan’s TSMC

Kyushu SMEs are exploring the formation of a joint venture to collaborate with Taiwan’s TSMC, which recently built a semiconductor factory in Kumamoto Prefecture. Around 70 companies have expressed interest in partnering with TSMC, aiming to consolidate their technological strengths. This initiative, revealed by Kyushu Economic Federation Chairman Sumio Kuratomi, involves input from local banks and Kyushu University. Taiwanese firms already working with TSMC are expected to join, enhancing the region’s presence in TSMC’s supply chain.
