Kyushu Tourism Partners Launch Joint Global Campaign

Japan Airlines (JAL), JR Kyushu, Kumamoto International Airport Co. (KKIAC), and the Kyushu Tourism Organization have launched their first joint initiative to attract more visitors from Europe and North America by combining their aviation, rail, airport, and regional tourism networks in a coordinated international marketing campaign. The initiative debuted with the launch of the multilingual “Choose KYUSHU Project” website, available in Japanese, English, and French, featuring travel inspiration, transportation guidance, and practical information for overseas visitors. Content includes suggested itineraries unique to Kyushu, introductions to JR Kyushu’s D&S sightseeing trains, access information from Aso Kumamoto Airport, regional travel experiences, and promotional discounts on selected airfares and rail passes. The partners said the campaign aims to raise Kyushu’s profile in Western markets, where awareness of the region remains relatively low despite its rich natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and food culture. The initiative follows a successful social media campaign featuring a French influencer based in Fukuoka, which indicated growing interest among European travelers. Future plans include joint participation in major international travel fairs, promotional events for overseas media and travel professionals, and closer collaboration with local governments and tourism operators to encourage longer stays and support sustainable tourism across Kyushu.
