Kyushu University has started conducting research into the usage of renewable energy to produce hydrogen and the development of hydrogen storage materials made from hydrogen alloys. It will develop a system to evaluate every step of the process, from hydrogen production to storage and power generation, and use this to identify issues. The aim is to develop extremely durable high-performance materials. It will also collect safety data that it hopes can be used to relax restrictions on the storage of hydrogen in residential areas.
