Kyushu University announced that Tokyo-based liquid crystal panel manufacturer Japan Display will join research now being conducted jointly by industry, academia, and government into organic electroluminescence, used for smartphone and television displays. The objective is to work together to create the next generation of organic electroluminescent products without the use of rare earth metals, which Kyushu University is already involved in. Twenty-four industry and university groups are now conducting the research on the Kyushu University campus.
