Kyushu University to Open Rare Specimen Exhibit

Kyushu University will open rarely seen parts of its General Research Museum to the public on weekends from May 17 to June 15. Located on the former Hakozaki Campus in Fukuoka’s Higashi Ward, the museum houses approximately 1.54 million academic specimens. The exhibit includes beetle collections such as jewel beetles and stag beetles, mineral samples from Japan and abroad, and fossils including ammonites. A highlight is the rare “platinum beetle” collected from Central and South America. Special tours and workshops led by researchers will also be available. Source: Kyushu University Museum / NHK
