Kyushu Welcomes Record-Breaking Foreign Visitors

Kyushu saw a significant rise in foreign visitors in April, with 366,407 arrivals, marking a 15% increase compared to the same month in 2018, before the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the seventh consecutive month of growth, despite being slightly lower than the record set in March. The Kyushu District Transport Bureau highlighted that the increase reflects the region’s growing appeal to international tourists. However, the number of cruise ship visitors, especially from China, remains lower due to reduced cruise operations. In February, the total number of foreign visitors, including those arriving by ship, was 373,481, still below the 2018 figure. Source: Kyushu District Transport Bureau
