The Kyushu Bureau of Economy Trade, and Industry released the preliminary version of its Kyushu-Asia Internationalization Report 2009 based on their analysis of economic activity between Kyushu and Asia in 2008. The report notes there was a 0.8% year-on-year rise in the value of exports to Asian countries to 3.9126 trillion yen. During the same year, the value of Kyushu imports totaled 2.6448 trillion yen, a 1.9% increase. Both were record highs. Kyushu’s exports to Asian countries accounted for 60% of the total, while imports accounted for 35%.
