LGBT-themed Manga Included in Itoshima City Bulletin

A manga (comics) to broaden understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people was included inside an Itoshima City bulletin. The latest edition of the newsletter, published on May 15, features gender diversity with a 9-page manga created by one of the city staff, Nobuharu Tanaka. The story was inspired by an actual event experienced by a former teacher of a junior high school. In the 32-page booklet, as many as 12 pages are dedicated to the theme as the city aims to appeal more to the younger generation by adopting the form of manga. A total of 38,000 copies were distributed. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 5/27/2019
