Local Buses in Saga Prefecture  Free of Charge Twice a Week

Saga Prefecture has a high rate of automobile use, and the number of people who use public transportation is much lower than in Tokyo or Fukuoka. To promote a “walking lifestyle,” an initiative to offer free fares on all local buses in the prefecture twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, beginning in January. In addition, if passengers board the bus from a bus stop outside the prefecture, the fare is free if they get off within the prefecture. This initiative will continue until February 26.
