In an effort to promote a healthier lifestyle to its residents, Fukuoka City has begun a test project in collaboration with “Fukuoka Sanpo,” a pedometer application developed by Nishinippon Shimbun and two other private companies. The smartphone application, which records the number of steps taken by the users, has been selected as one of the health-promotional projects by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. Users can earn points according to their data and those results for giveaways and coupons from various shops, including Hakata Daimaru and a nationwide drugstore chain. Source: Fukuoka City
