Local Kyushu Governments Promote Mountain Climbing for Korean Tourism

With the higher yen and the lower won putting a damper on tourism from South Korea, local governments in Kyushu are trying to promote mountain climbing as a way to entice more travelers to visit. Mountain climbing is a popular recreational activity in South Korean, and it also can be enjoyed inexpensively, a plus in the current economic downturn. Local governments in all the Kyushu prefectures are organizing tours for people in the South Korean tourism industry to promote the business potential of the idea, as well as having maps printed in the Korean language.
