Logo Unveiled to Promote East Kyushu Shinkansen Project

The East Kyushu Shinkansen Promotion Council has unveiled a new logo to boost awareness and support for the proposed high-speed rail line connecting Fukuoka and Kagoshima via eastern Kyushu. Selected from 364 entries in a nationwide design contest, the winning logo—created by a designer in Tokyo—features a red arc-shaped train over a stylized Kyushu map, symbolizing progress and regional aspirations.

Although designated as a basic plan route by the government in 1973, the East Kyushu Shinkansen lacks formal development plans. The council, comprising the prefectures of Fukuoka, Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, and Kitakyushu City, is intensifying promotional efforts, including hosting symposia, to advance the project’s realization.
