Makoto Ayukawa, Guitarist of Sheena & The Rokkets, Passes Away at 74

Makoto Ayukawa, the guitarist of the popular rock band Sheena & The Rokkets, passed away on the 29th due to pancreatic cancer. He was 74 years old. Makoto Ayukawa, a native of Fukuoka Prefecture, formed the rock band “Sheena & The Rokkets” with his wife Etsuko, also known as Sheena, in 1978 and became famous for songs such as “You May Dream,” leading the “Mentai Rock” rock movement from Fukuoka. In addition to being a guitarist, he is also an actor and appeared in NHK’s television series Churasan. According to his office, Ayukawa continued to perform energetically even after pancreatic cancer was detected in May last year. Still, he passed away on the 29th of March due to pancreatic cancer.
